BOB FREEMAN’S WEEKEND SURF REPORT

By  //  August 24, 2014

GOOD MORNING, SURFERS!

Waves are looking mostly unrideable this morning. Late-morning's lower tide could help make the small waves more rideable by then. Surfers seeking an early morning surf session may want to focus on Cocoa Beach's northernmost beaches for a longboardable wave.
Ocean water temperatures are in the 73 degree range. Don’t forget to wear a rashguard and apply sunscreen.

SURF REPORT FOR AUG. 22 –24, 2014

Bob Freeman has been surfing Brevard's waves since 1966.
Bob Freeman has been surfing Brevard’s waves since 1966.

FRIDAY: Waves early this morning are running in the thigh-high range with semi-clean lines from a southwesterly breeze. Waves should become more ride-able as this morning’s high tide backs out through the morning.

This morning’s incoming high tide push should provide more waist-high sets at the better surf spots.

SATURDAY: Saturday’s surf will remain in the thigh-high range with clean conditions again from a light southwesterly breeze.

SUNDAY: I believe Sunday’s surf will run in the knee-high range early in the morning, then increase gradually perhaps into the thigh- to waist-high range as traces of Cristobal’s ground swell begin to appear later in the afternoon.

I also forsee building surf from Cristobal into next week. Surf heights could approach chest-high by Tuesday and Wednesday. Stay tuned for updates to this forecast.
