BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — On August 13, 2014, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshal Service located and arrested 40-year-old Laverne Thomas Wheeler in Texas for the Sexual Battery of a Child under 12 years of age.

The Sheriff’s Office participates in a Task Force with the United States Marshal Service, where Fugitive Team Agents work with Marshal Service Agents to actively seek out fugitives from justice.

The agents tracked Wheeler to Nacogdoches, Texas, where he was located and arrested without incident.

Wheeler was transported to the local jail under a no bond status and is currently awaiting extradition back to Brevard County.

The charges relate to an arrest warrant issued on August 1, 2014, relative to the Sexual Battery of a victim under the age of 12.

The case was investigated by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.
