CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, COLORADO – Brevard’s Billy Horschel won Golf’s BMW Championship today in Denver Colorado.
After a close second place finish last Monday at the Deutsche Bank Championship, where Horschel had a 6-iron in hand on the 18th fairway for a chance to win or force extra holes, he miss-hit his shot into the brush.
However, today Horschel, the young Brevardian, rallied and played brilliantly, to win the coveted BMW Championship. He is now second in the Fed Ex Points Championship going into next week’s tournament.
The leaderboard: Billy Horschel (-14); Bubba Watson (-12); Morgan Hoffmann (-11); Ryan Palmer, Sergio Garcia Rickie Fowler and Jim Furyk at -9.
Horschel played golf at Bayside High and graduated from the University of Florida in 2009, where he was a four-time All-American. Only five players in Gator history have received the award four times.
Horschel was elected to the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame in May 2014.
