According to Brevard County spokesman Don Walker, Collin’s dismissal was a result of a difference of opinion with county management in the direction of the department.

Prior to coming to Brevard County, Collins had retired from his job as chief and director of the Dayton, Ohio, fire department.

Collins, who was paid $104,500 annually, will receive 90 days severance pay.
