TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — The Florida Forestry Association (FFA) today announced its endorsement of Gov. Rick Scott for re-election as Governor of Florida.

“Gov. Scott understands that working forests work for Florida,” said Alan Shelby, FFA Executive Vice President. “We appreciate his support of our industry’s importance to the state’s environment and economy.”

Shelby specifically noted that under Gov. Scott’s leadership, the greenbelt assessment for ad valorem taxation on agricultural lands has been strengthened.

“Greenbelt is vital for the forest industry,” he said. “Tree farmers could not afford to continue growing trees without it. Greenbelt might be the single most important factor keeping Florida green today. When Gov, Scott made that legislation law, it was a great day for the state of Florida.”

FFA is a statewide membership organization that brings together all segments of the forest industry. Their mission is to promote the responsible and sustainable use of Florida’s forest resources. As part of that mission, FFA encourages all of its members and all citizens to vote in the general election on Nov. 4,20t4, to elect leaders who understand the importance of working forests to their communities and our state.
