According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation was initiated when Cooper made contact with a 14-year-old through an online social media site, where he engaged in an inappropriate conversation with the child.

Earlier this week, the child’s parents contacted the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident.

Agents assumed the identity of the victim and Cooper then made contact believing the Agent to be the victim.

Cooper made sexually explicit solicitations to the child and arranged to meet to perform sexual acts. Cooper also made statements that due to the child’s age, the child could not tell anyone about the encounter.

Cooper then arrived at a location in Rockledge to meet the victim and was arrested. Cooper had advised the victim that he was 22-years-old, but admitted to the Agents after the arrest as being 29, further acknowledging that he knew the victim was only 14.

“This investigation is a perfect example of how parents can maintain an awareness and relationship with their children to ensure their safety,” said Sheriff Wayne Ivey.  “As a direct result, another child predator is out of our community and will never prey on our vulnerable children again.”
