UPDATE: The woman riding the golf cart has passed away. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman is Deborah Pearse, 52 of Rockledge.

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — An accident involving a golf cart vs. a car resulted in a woman being airlifted to Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center. 

According to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Cpl. David Jacobs, the accident occurred near the intersection of Irongate Drive and Murrell Road.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. According to  FHP public information officer Kim Montes, the woman driving the golf cart was crossing Murrell Road in the southbound lane when she was struck by a 2008 Nissan Sedan driven Joan Neff , 68, of Melbourne.

A preliminary investigation shows the golf cart was at fault. According to Montes, the woman driving the golf cart is in critical condition, but her name has not been disclosed.

According to FHP public information officer Kim Montes, the woman driving the golf cart is 52 years old.
