BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire Wednesday on Bel Aire Drive in Merritt Island. (See map above)

According to BCFR, the fire started in the kitchen when a fryer tipped over, spilling grease, which quickly caught fire.

“It splashed some oil, got on the burner, it ignited, got the kitchen cabinets going,” BCFR District Chief Bob Furci told News 13.

All the residents and pets who were home at the time of the fire evacuated and there were no injuries.
