BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The Propeller Club of Port Canaveral recognized Canaveral Port Authority Commission Chairman Tom Weinberg as Maritime Person of the Year at a presentation made at the Port Commission meeting on October 29.

This honor was given in recognition of Commissioner Weinberg’s leadership not only in growth and development at Port Canaveral, but also in efforts towards the Port’s Charter review process and other improvements in the way the Port Authority operates.

In his remarks, Commissioner Weinberg credited the entire Port Commission and Port Authority staff working as a team for the achievements and successes during his tenure as Commission Chairman.

Weinberg is serving a second consecutive term as Chairman of the Canaveral Port Authority Board, accepting the job after an unanimous vote during the January 2014 Commission meeting.

He is a licensed realtor who has held several local, state, and federal positions, including Chief of Staff for former U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez and Deputy County Administrator for Orange County, Florida government.

A fourth-generation Brevard County, Florida resident elected from District 5, Weinberg began his Board tenure in January 2011.
