Former Baltimore running back Ray Rice, who gained notoriety after a brutal video was released showing him punching and knocking out Janay Palmer, his then-fiancee and now wife, has won the appeal of his indefinite suspension by the NFL, which has been “vacated immediately,” the players’ union said Friday.

The appeal was made to former U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones to determine if the NFL exceeded its authority in amending Rice’s original two-game suspension, making it indefinite after additional video footage of the Baltimore Ravens running back punching Palmer.
