Eastern Florida’s soccer programs collected their second first-team All-America selection of 2014. Women’s soccer midfielder Abbie Camargo, a freshman from Ocala, Florida and Trinity Christian High, was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America first team for NJCAA Division I players.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s soccer programs collected their second first-team All-America selection of 2014 on Thursday.
Women’s soccer midfielder Abbie Camargo, a freshman from Ocala, Florida and Trinity Christian High, was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America first team for NJCAA Division I players.
Camargo, who set a school record for assists with 16, joins EFSC men’s defender and sophomore Kyle Carr who earlier was an NJCAA Division I first-team All-America selection.
Men’s soccer defender and sophomore Ivan Magalhaes of Sao Paolo, Brazil earned his second second-team All-America selection for 2014 with his NSCAA selection. He earlier was named to the NJCAA second team.

Magalhaes was an NJCAA first-team pick in 2013.
EFSC women’s defender and sophomore Samantha Solis earned second-team NSCAA honors to go with her honorable mention NJCAA pick.
EFSC freshman goalkeeper Asmara Holmes was an NJCAA second-team honoree.
Camargo added 11 goals to her assist total for a team-leading 38 points as EFSC finished with a 13-1-2 record and tied for third nationally.
She earlier was named NJCAA Region 8 Co-Most Valuable Player.
Magalhaes scored six goals and added two assists while playing on a backline that allowed 17 goals in 17 games. EFSC finished its second season as a program at 13-3-1, losing in the district final.

He drew praise from men’s head coach Oliver Twelvetrees.
“Ivan has proven over the last two years that he is one of the best centerbacks in the country at any level. He is fully deserving of this honor and will be a true ambassador for EFSC soccer as he moves forward in his collegiate and professional career.”
Solis, from Orlando, Florida and University High anchored an EFSC backline that allowed only 10 goals in 16 games.
Holmes, from Silver Springs, Maryland and John F. Kennedy High, allowed nine goals in 747 minutes in 15 games while making 41 saves and compiling a 9-1 won-loss record.

“I am really excited about our three student- athletes who are being recognized for their achievements this year as they all played a big role in our success,” said EFSC head women’s coach Jeff Carr.
“Abbie is so deserving of being first-team All- America. She led our team in assists and was our second-leading goal scorer. She was an unselfish player who made huge contributions all year.”
“Sam and Asmara shored up our defense as Sam was an unbelievable leader as our center back on and off the field and a tremendous defender. She is so deserving of this honor.”
“Asmara was part of our tandem of two great keepers, she made some big saves this year, played big minutes and also was a big part of our success.
“These ladies did some great things for us this year but they would be the first to say that they wouldn’t have achieved this success if it was not for their teammates. It was another great year for Titans soccer individually and as a team.”
Also on Tuesday Carr was named the NSCAA South Region Coach of the Year and is now in the running for Coach of the Year. Carr earlier was named NJCAA Region 8 Coach of the Year for the fourth straight time.
