Hersey will enroll for fall 2015
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Olivia Hersey, a 6-foot-0 middle blocker and right side hitter from Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period to join the Florida Tech Panthers.
She will enroll starting in fall 2015 and plans to major in mathematical sciences.
Hersey helped guide the Hornets to two state volleyball championships in 2012 and 2013. Following their 2012 state title, Bishop Moore earned the distinction of being ranked No. 1 in the country by MaxPreps. En route to winning the 2013 championship, Hersey registered 23.5 blocks and a .307 hitting percentage.
“We are very excited to have Olivia join our program,” head coach Amy O’Brien said.
“She brings an immense amount of experience in the middle position, helping her team win back-to-back state championships in Florida in 2012 and 2013. She also comes to us from a prestigious club program, Orlando Volleyball Academy. Olivia is going to add depth and experience in the middle position. She brings great leadership, skill and a positive attitude every time she steps on the court.”
“She has a contagious work ethic which will make an immediate impact on our team,” said O’Brien.
She played four years for Orlando Volleyball Academy, which is ranked No. 1 in Florida and No. 5 in the country.
She was a captain for one season and her team qualified for nationals earlier this year.
