Sunshine State Conference WBALL Player of the Week
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech senior forward Jasmire Brown has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, announced Monday.
In the Panthers’ three victories during the course of the week, the Brooksville, Florida native averaged 21.3 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 64.7 percent from the field and 58.8 percent from three-point range.
Brown started off the week with a team-high 20 points along with seven rebounds to lead the Panthers to an 82-53 clobbering of Flagler. Brown was efficient against the Saints, hitting seven of her nine shot attempts, including going 5-of-7 from behind the arc.
Brown ended the week with a tremendous showing at the CarMax Holiday Tournament in Melbourne, all while battling a fairly severe fever. She set a new-career high of 23 points in the opening game against LeMoyne to lead FIT in scoring and pace the Panthers to a 95-87 win. Brown also swiped four steals against the Dolphins.
The senior forward then helped the Panthers jump out early and stay on top of Shaw for a 95-87 win. Brown added 21 points, five rebounds and three assists in the contest.
Following the game, she was named to the all-tournament team.
The Panthers wrapped up 2014 against Shaw and will look to open 2015 on a high note as FIT returns to SSC action at Saint Leo on Jan. 3.
