Melbourne Police Nail Two Tire Burglary Suspects

 Edward John Webster, 71, of Melbourne was killed Saturday morning when he was struck at Sherwood Boulevard and King Richard Roa by a car driven by Sylvia Inez Sosa, according to the Melbourne Police Department.
The Melbourne police arrested two suspects on Wednesday night after receiving a call at about 7:37 p.m. that a suspicious U-Haul van was in the parking lot of the Space Coast Area Transit, located at 460 S. Harbor City Boulevard.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne police arrested two suspects on Wednesday night after receiving a call at about 7:37 p.m. that a suspicious U-Haul van was in the parking lot of the Space Coast Area Transit, located at 460 S. Harbor City Boulevard.

According to the Melbourne police, officers stopped the van leaving the area on S. Harbor City Boulevard and Nasa Boulevard, and was found it to contain 18 full size spares on rims, and four of the tire/rim combinations were found to have just been stolen from Space Coast Area Transit.

Surveillance video revealed the van and suspects on SCAT property, and the male subject crawling under one of the large passenger vans cutting the spare tire cable and removing the tire.

Some of the other tire/rim combinations appeared to have been stolen off Jeep brand vehicles. This case is still under investigation as the origin of the other tire and rims is unknown at this time.

Dwayne Barnwell, 48, of Miami Gardens Florida was arrested and charged with four counts of Burglary of a Conveyance, four counts of grand theft, four counts of criminal mischief, possession of marijuana less the 20g and possession of burglary tools.

CRIMELINE-435-1Also arrested was Audrey Yvonne Gilliam of Miami Florida, who was charged with four counts of Burglary of a Conveyance, four counts of grand theft, four counts of criminal mischief, Felony Driving While License Suspended or Revoked and possession of burglary tools.

Barnwell and Gilliam were booked and taken to the Brevard County Jail.
