BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – An armed suspect who was wanted in an overnight drive-by shooting incident was shot and killed by a Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy on Friday.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s GameOver Task Force was assisting in an investigation from the shooting incident that occurred in the unincorporated area of Cocoa on Thursday night.

According to Officer Barbara Matthews of the Cocoa Police Department, Quinten Jamal Smith, 23, of Cocoa, approached a home on Clearlake Road in Cocoa at about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday and fired a weapon nine times into the residence during a drive-by shooting. Sheriff’s Agents then responded to the scene and obtained Arrest Warrants for Smith relating to six counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling.

Agents contacted Smith by telephone, and were told by Smith that he would be returning to kill the family and any law enforcement officers that tried to stop him, according to Officer Matthews.

On Friday, at about 12:45 p.m., members of the GameOver Task Force located Smith at a residence on School Street in Cocoa.
