Basketball Players Share Student-Athlete of the Week Award

Men's Basketball won 42 straight games at home
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Basketball players Paola Vasquez, Jessica Doyle and Djordje Beronja are Eastern Florida State College’s Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 19.
Vasquez, a freshman guard from Ciales, Puerto Rico and Florida Air Academy, scored a team-high 20 points, grabbed five rebounds, recorded five steals and handed out three assists in an 88-57 women’s victory over visiting Broward College on Jan. 13.
Doyle, a sophomore guard from Palm Bay and Heritage High, scored a team-high 29 points on 9-for-11 from the floor including 4-for-6 from the three-point line.
She also was 7-for-7 on free throws, grabbed five rebounds and recorded two assists in a 66-55 women’s victory over host Palm Beach State on Saturday.
Eastern Florida is 14-5 overall and 5-0 and in first place in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference. They have won seven straight games this season and eight straight games at home.
Beronja, a freshman forward from Novi Grad, Bosnia scored 17 points on 8-of-8 from the floor, grabbed seven rebounds, recorded two steals and a blocked shot in a 78-74 men’s victory over visiting Palm Beach State on Jan. 14.
He grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, scored eight points and recorded two steals in a 68-65 loss at Miami Dade College on Saturday.
Eastern Florida is 19-2 overall and 2-1 in the Southern Conference. It has won 42 straight games at home.
