School Administrators at Cocoa High School received information on Thursday that an 11th grade male student had a gun in his car, according to Officer Barbara Matthews of the Cocoa Police Department.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – School Administrators at Cocoa High School received information on Thursday that an 11th grade male student had a gun in his car, according to Officer Barbara Matthews of the Cocoa Police Department.

Administrators and the School Resource Officer acted quickly, made contact with the student and searched his car.

According to Officer Matthews, a handgun was found locked in the glove compartment of the car and the student was arrested.

School Administrators sent a letter out to all parents advising them of the situation and encouraging them to contact the school with any questions about the incident.
