Commissioner Jim Barfield To Host Cocoa Open House Jan. 9

ABOVE MAP: Brevard County Commissioner Jim Barfield, who represents District 2, will host his monthly open house in Cocoa on the second Friday of the month to encourage residents to speak with him about community issues. This month, the open house will be held 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the Central Brevard Library and Reference Center, 308 Forrest Ave., Cocoa.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Commissioner Jim Barfield, who represents District 2, will host his monthly open house in Cocoa on the second Friday of the month to encourage residents to speak with him about community issues.

This month, the open house will be held 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the Central Brevard Library and Reference Center, located at 308 Forrest Ave., Cocoa.

District 2 includes Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Port Canaveral, Cape Canaveral, Avon by the Sea, Cocoa Beach, Snug Harbor, portions of Cocoa and Rockledge, and Patrick Air Force Base.

He was elected to the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners in November 2014 where he was elected to serve as Vice-Chairman.

Barfield  serves on the following boards: Arts in Public Places, East Central Florida Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC), Extension Advisory Council, Florida Association of Counties (FAC), Indian River Lagoon Counties Collaborative, Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), and Junior Achievement.

Before becoming Commissioner he previously served on the Board of Adjustment, KLD Kids, LEAD Brevard, Space Coast Volunteers in Medicine, Jess Parrish Foundation, Horizon Point Church and the Economic Development Commission. He was honored as a Central Florida Humanitarian in 2013.
