BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – One man was wounded in a shooting on Highland Street in Cocoa at about 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Officer Barbara Matthews of the Cocoa Police Department.

Witnesses told police that three men were inside the residence when two men entered, while two more waited outside.

One of the suspects who entered the apartment ordered the three victims to the ground.

According to police, one of the victims was shot several times when he resisted.

After the shooting, the suspects then fled on foot but police officers apprehended two of the four suspects in the area of U.S. 1 and Cocoa Place.

The gunshot victim, and 18-year old man, was air-lifted to the hospital, and at this time it does not appear that his injuries are life threatening, according to police.

“It is important to note that this was not a random crime, that the suspects knew the victims,” said Officer Matthews.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
