BRREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department arrested Rebecca Sue Flannery, 45, of Palm Bay on Friday and charged her with Exploitation of the Elderly, Grand Theft From a Person Over 65 years of age, Dealing in Stolen Property and False Verification of Ownership.

According to police, the charges stem from Flannery working as an in-home hospice caregiver for a Palm Bay man late last year, and hired by the man’s wife.

Flannery is suspected of stealing more than $10,000 worth of jewelry during her employment in November and
December 2014.

According to a police affidavit, Flannery admitted in an audio-recorded non-custodial statement that she pawned several pieces of jewelry, including the now deceased husband’s ring at area pawn shops.

Flannery was scheduled to make an initial court appearance at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the charges.
