BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Fire-Rescue Chief Jim Stables announces the appointment of Ron Bailey as the city’s new fire marshal.

Bailey officially began his new role on January 10 following the retirement of former Fire Marshal Mike Couture.

Bailey began his career in the fire service in 1985 where he worked for the California Division of Forestry as a firefighter.

In 1994 he joined the Indian Harbor Beach Fire Department. He joined Palm Bay Fire-Rescue in 2002 as a fire inspector and was named assistant fire marshal in 2009.

Bailey will complete his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Barry University this year.

He holds numerous professional certifications including Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Fire Investigator and others involving fire management.

“I hope to improve our customer service and fire safety awareness during my tenure here as fire marshal,” Bailey said.

“I enjoy working with the public and helping raise awareness to make a positive difference in the safety of our community.”

Most noteworthy is his certification as an arson investigator with the International Association of Arson Investigators, which is recognized around the world.

Bailey is regarded as an expert in this field and is also a certified fire instructor through the Florida Fire College.

In addition to the completion of his bachelor’s degree, Bailey is also pursuing the professional fire marshal designation which is a nationally recognized credential.
