TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced a proposed $20 million in new funding for Florida technical centers as part of his 2015-2016 “KEEP FLORIDA WORKING” budget. This funding will support a rapid response start-up grant program that directly links local workforce needs to job demand. This week, Governor Scott will begin traveling the state to visit technical centers to highlight his proposal to make Florida a leader in advanced workforce training.

“I’m pleased today to announce a proposed $20 million in new funding for Florida’s technical centers,” Governor Scott said. “We know the workers of tomorrow are in our classrooms today – and this advanced workforce training creates an environment where our students are getting the skills and training they need to be competitive in the global marketplace. This increased funding will continue to give our workforce a competitive advantage and put our state on a path to become the global leader for job creation.”

Governor Scott will unveil his full “KEEP FLORIDA WORKING” budget in Tallahassee in the coming weeks.
