STILL SEEKING UP TO 10 ADDITIONAL SUSPECTS
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Agents arrested 16-year-old DeAngelo Wellmaker of Melbourne today as one of the suspects responsible for a business burglary and grand theft of six automobiles last Sunday, according to Cpl. David Jacobs.
Wellmaker was taken into custody without incident and charged with six counts Grand Theft Auto, Felony Criminal Mischief and Burglary.
The incident occurred at The Car Guys Automotive Sales, located at 3665 W. New Haven Avenue in Melbourne, as Deputies responded to a call after about seven to 10 suspects were caught on video surveillance entering the business by smashing the front window with a cement block.
The suspects were then seen on video rummaging through the business stealing keys. All of the stolen vehicles have been recovered.
“This is another incredible example of how by providing our community with timely information, they can help solve crimes,” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
“I am very proud to say through the use of social media coupled with the active involvement of our community, our agents were able to compete an investigation and arrest one with several others pending.”
The West Melbourne Police Department reported similar business and a vehicle theft where that stolen vehicle has since been recovered as well.
This incident is under investigation and Sheriff’s Agents are actively seeking the other suspects responsible.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to please call Brevard County Sheriff’s Office South Precinct General Crimes Agent Aimee Slater at 321-253-6683, or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477). All calls to CRIMELINE are confidential.
