Wilson, Pearce Receive Panther Student-Athlete of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Following fantastic performances over the past week, women’s basketball guard Kayk Wilson and women’s swimmer Shelby Pearce have been named Florida Tech’s Panther Student-Athletes of the Week.
Wilson averaged 19.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the No. 23 Panthers’ pair of wins over the course of the week.
The Rockledge native tallied 11 points to help the Panthers knock off Palm Beach Atlantic 74-63 on Tuesday at the Clemente Center.
The senior returned to the court on Saturday with 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including six-of-nine from behind the three-point arc, as FIT outpaced No. 21 Tampa 62-57.
Pearce garnered three wins in FIT women’s swimming’s 122-83 win over Lewis last Monday. She cruised to the victory in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 2:16.61.
Pearce also won the 500-yard freestyle, posting a 5:17.63. Finally, the junior joined teammates Dar Raz, Bernie Murphy and Liana Soileau to take the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.23.
The women’s basketball team will hit the road for a pair of Sunshine State Conference games this week. The Panthers will play Barry in Miami Shores on Wednesday, Jan. 14 before making their way to Lakeland for a battle with Florida Southern on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Women’s swimming will host Saint Leo and Lynn at the Panther Aquatic Center on Saturday.
