BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Each the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office recognizes a current member of the agency that, in addition to helping protect our community, has also proudly served our country as a member of the United States Armed Forces.

This week’s “Wednesday Warrior” is Deputy Kevin Roberts, who is currently assigned as a Patrol Deputy and serves the citizens of Brevard County in the BCSO South Precinct.

This week’s “Wednesday Warrior” is Deputy Kevin Roberts, who is currently assigned as a Patrol Deputy and serves the citizens of Brevard County in the BCSO South Precinct.

In addition to his duties and assignments with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Roberts is also a decorated 12 year active duty member of the U.S. Army Reserves.

His current rank is a Sergeant with the 383rd CID detachment in Lakeland, Florida.

Deputy Roberts has specialized training in protective services, advanced crime scene and investigations and has served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Extremely proud and thankful to be able to serve his country, Deputy Roberts aims to continue serving his country and further his military career, while also serving as a Deputy Sheriff.

To that end, he is scheduled to attend the U.S. Army Warrant Officer School at Fort Rucker in Alabama.

Meritorious Service Medal

While serving in Afghanistan, Deputy Roberts was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal and Army Achievement Medal for his investigative efforts.

In fact, one of his most memorable experiences while serving in the military was during a deployment as a criminal investigator where he helped solve the murder of a U.S. Army soldier in Afghanistan.

Deputy Roberts has been a Brevard County Deputy Sheriff since 1996, and has completed assignments in Road Patrol, Field Training Officer and General Crimes Agent in Investigations.

He attended the Basic Law Enforcement Academy at the Indian River State College, and says his favorite training in Law Enforcement thus far has been firearms training.

One of his most memorable moments as a Deputy Sheriff has been seeing that he can make a positive difference in the community on a daily basis.

He works diligently with his squad members to protect Brevard County’s citizens with professionalism and compassion.

Deputy Roberts’ dedication to serving the citizens appears to also be matched with his dedication to his education and personal achievement.

Despite the difficult schedule of juggling two careers and deployments, he is scheduled to receive a Master’s Degree in public administration in March 2015 from Barry University. Outside of his career,Deputy Roberts enjoys running, surfing and playing tennis.
