BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida’s golf team won the Florida Tech Panther Invitational at Viera’s Duran Golf Club on Tuesday.

Eastern Florida, the only JUCO team in the field, out shot its NCAA Division II and NAIA competitors, winning by 18 strokes. The Titans shot 283-289-283=861.

Johnson and Wales’ Peter French won the individual trophy by three strokes with an eight-under-par 208.

Eastern Florida State’s Michael DeMorat was the runner up at five-under and Northwood’s Felix Aberg placed third at one-under.

French shot 72-66-70=208; DeMorat 67-73-71=211 and Aberg 68-75-72=215.

Eastern Florida’s Kerry Sweeney was fourth at even par 73-72-71=216. The Titans Drew Cooke, Dalton Bartlett and Alex Blue tied for eighth at 219, placing all five Titans golfers in the top 10.

Cooke shot 73-72-74; Bartlett 70-76-73 and Blue 73-72-74.

“Everyone played very well,” said Eastern Florida head coach Jamie Howell. “A lot of hard work went into preparing for this event and it paid off.”

“We shot the low round all three rounds and the guys did an excellent job of adjusting to the course and the conditions.”

Florida Tech and Johnson & Wales tied for second at 879. Florida Tech’s B team shot 888; Northwood University 891; Johnson & Wales B team shot 917; Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and Palm Beach Atlantic carded 919.

Next up for Eastern Florida is the March 2-3 Darton Spring Invitational in Albany, Georgia.
