BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Looking to rid the sour taste of Saturday’s tough loss to Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida Tech women’s tennis will attempt to get back in the win column Tuesday when it travels to St. Augustine, Florida for a match against Flagler.

It won’t be easy for the FIT women, as Flagler is currently ranked No. 30 nationally in the ITA rankings and holds two top-20 Southeast Region players in No. 11 Barbora Sebkova and No. 16 Esther Santiago.

After falling behind 3-0 after doubles competition on Saturday, the Panthers made things interesting with four wins in singles. Chloe Chanleyoverpowered Valerie Nagovitcina 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 and Kayla Hergott was awarded the win after Yoanna Peshev retired.

Erin Egoroff defeated Maja Jovic 6-2, 6-4 and Mariana Castaneiras took down Layla Taracena 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Unfortunately, the comeback came up just short.

The Saints are also trying to bounce back, having dropped their first three matches of the year to No. 2 Embry-Riddle, No. 26 Georgia College and No. 35 Nova Southeastern.

A recap and box score will be posted to FloridaTechSports.com following the day’s action.
