BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech men’s tennis 1-3, 0-0 SSC) competed admirably Sunday against No. 10 ranked Valdosta State (2-1) but was unable to register a victory, falling to the Blazers 9-0 at DeSoto Park.

“If you only look at the final score, it does not reflect how much effort our guys put into the match,” said head coach Bill Macom.

“We competed very well with a top-10 team and are getting better with every match.”

The Blazers took a 3-0 lead in doubles, though the Panthers claimed 13 total sets.

FIT pushed VSU in each of the No. 1-5 singles matches, with Ricardo Corona garnering the Panthers’ lone set victory.

Corona, however, was ultimately upended by Ramon Weil 6-4, 3-6, 11-5.

FIT resumes action on Feb. 23 with a match against Chestnut Hill at Fee Avenue Park in Melbourne, beginning at 1 p.m.
