Aaron A. Belka, 41, of Melbourne was struck and killed by a train Saturday night, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

One person was wounded early Sunday morning about 12:09 a.m. when Melbourne police officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the rear of Shull Manor Apartments located at 711 E. University, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – One person was wounded early Sunday morning about 12:09 a.m. when Melbourne police officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the rear of Shull Manor Apartments, located at 711 E. University. 

According to the Melbourne Police Department, in an attempt to flee, the suspect vehicle drove directly at the officer, who then fired into the vehicle, striking one of the occupants.

Authorities have not released the identity or status of the shooting victim.

The police officer involved has not been identified and the incident continues to be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Melbourne Police Department.
