BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Local businessman, and now Cocoa Police Department Auxiliary Officer Ralph Perrone, recently presented Cocoa Police Chief Michael Cantaloupe and Cocoa Fire Chief Gene Prince $10 gift certificates for area restaurants for each of their employees.
The gesture during the Cocoa City Council on Tuesday night to was in honor of Florida’s First Responder Appreciation Week which was proclaimed by Governor Rick Scott as January 5th through the 9th.
“First Responders include law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMT’s who bravely and selflessly risk their lives every day to protect Florida families, visitors and businesses,” Gov. Scott said in the proclamation.
Cocoa was the first stop for Perrone who will also be reaching out to the City of Rockledge and the East Precinct of the Brevard County Sheriff’s office to donate to those First Responders as well.
“When I heard that Governor Scott had declared last week First Responder Appreciation Week, I wanted to do something as a local business owner to show my appreciation to all first responders in Cocoa, Merritt Island and Rockledge,” said Parrone, who owns Perrone Properties.
“With the help of Lightholder Building Contractors, Perrone Properties was able to purchase the gift certificates from local restaurants for 325 local first responders.”
