Motorcyclist Killed On US 1 In Rockledge Identified

A 50-year old motorcylist was killed on Monday at about 2:55 p.m. in a traffic incident on US 1 and Carver Lane in Rockledge.

A 50-year old motorcylist was killed on Monday at about 2:55 p.m. in a traffic incident on US 1 and Carver Lane in Rockledge.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A 50-year old motorcylist was killed on Monday at about 2:55 p.m. in a traffic incident on US 1 and Carver Lane in Rockledge.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Thelma Thomas, 81, of Rockledge, was driving a 2006 Mercury 4-door vehicle, and was stopped at a stop sign facing eastbound on Carver Lane.

The victim, Robert O’Connor of Cape Canaveral, who was riding his 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, was traveling southbound on US 1.

Thomas attempted to make a left turn to travel northbound on US 1 and pulled into the direct path of the O’Connor, according to FHP.

The front of O’Connor’s motorcyle struck the left side of Thomas’ vehicle, at which time he was ejected off of his motorcycle.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, O’Connor was wearing a helmet and later died at the hospital.

This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
