Chang-Fane Scores At Weightlifting Championships

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The latest edition of Inside BPS (Brevard Public Schools) congratulates Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School’s Juliette Chang-Fane, 15, for placing 11th at the National Junior Weightlifting Championships in Oklahoma City.

At a body weight of 127 pounds, Chang-Fane hoisted a 132-pound barbell from the ground to an overhead finish in one continuous motion in the snatch, and lifted 165 pounds in the clean and jerk.

She will now attend multiple training sessions over the next year at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs.

There she will be able to build and improve her skills for the ultimate goal of competing in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

In 2015, USA Weightlifting’s National Junior Championships headed to Oklahoma City as part of the Bart and Nadia Sports Experience.

The event took place February 12-15 in a joint venture between the Bart and Nadia Sports Experience, USA Weightlifting, the Oklahoma Weightlifting LWC and the Oklahoma City CVB.
