Eastern Florida State College’s Crystal Townsend is this week’s NJCAA Region 8/Florida College System Activities Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College’s Crystal Townsend is this week’s NJCAA Region 8/Florida College System Activities Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Townsend, a freshman from Cape Coral, Florida and Cape Coral High, scored 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and recorded one assist in her only game during the voting period.
She helped Eastern Florida State cap its first Southern Conference championship season since 2002 with a 64-49 win at Palm Beach State on Feb. 23. Townsend hit 8-of-12 shots from the field and 9-of-13 from the free throw line.

“Crystal is very deserving of this honor,” said Eastern Florida head coach Jim Grimes.
“She sets the pace for our team every day, and has a motor that does not stop. She has been great for us down the stretch, and we certainly would not be where we are without her.”
Next up for the Titans is their first trip to the NJCAA Region 8/FSCAA Tournament since 2003.
