BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s Rachel Tobin (Palm Bay, Fla.) has been named the Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, announced on Wednesday by the PBC office.

This is Tobin’s first time being selected for the honor, and the track and field program’s first selection as a member of the PBC.

The redshirt freshman had a huge performance at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Florida on March 13.

She finished fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.85. Her run set a new school record in the event and provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships.

Tobin finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.01, just behind an athlete from the Bahamas National Team. Her run in the 200 meter set a new school record in the event and, again, provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships.

In the 4×100 meter relay, Casie Clark, Tobin, Maia Carter and Alexis Santiago finished third with a time of 48.03. The run set a new school record in the event.

Tobin is also currently ranked No. 2 in Division II in the 100 meter dash and No. 1 in the 200 meter dash.

Tobin and the women’s and men’s track & field team compete in the Bulls Invitational on March 19-20 in Tampa, Florida.
