Florida Tech Women’s Tennis Sweeps Eckerd 9-0

Improve to 12-6 overall record
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech women’s tennis (12-6, 1-2 SSC) duplicated their male counterparts’ performance Saturday afternoon, topping Eckerd (5-6, 0-3 SSC) 9-0 at the Dick Bullard Courts.
The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 advantage following doubles play.
Erin Egoroff and Kayla Hergott pulled out a 9-7 win over Gipson Hawn and Amy Naula at the No. 1 spot.
The No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams had less trouble securing the point for FIT.
Katie Close and Natasa Vukovic won 8-3 over Erika Fridrik and Emily Fridrik, while Chloe Chanley and Meritt Rabson registered an 8-4 win against Katie Benn and Carson Trapp.
In singles, Vukovic bested Hawn 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 and Hergott took down Trapp 6-1, 6-2.
At No. 3, Chanley battled to a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Emily Fridrik, while Egoroff was the victor against Naula by a margin of 6-0, 6-2.
Mariana Castaneiras rolled over Benn 6-0, 6-0 and Jessica Widmark won 7-6, 6-0 against Erika Fridrik at the No. 6 spot.
The Panthers return to play on Tuesday with an exhibition with Oxford at Kiwi Tennis Club in Indian Harbour, Florida before taking on Embry-Riddle on Friday at DeSoto Park in Satellite Beach, Florida, beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
