BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Just two days after arguably his greatest career effort, Florida Tech left-handed starter Scotty Ward has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Facing a prolific Saint Leo offense that has notched double-digit runs on 15 occasions, Ward dazzled with a 99-pitch complete-game five-hit shutout in the Panthers’ 9-0 win last Saturday.

The senior from Port Orange, Florida didn’t permit a single walk and struck out seven, while retiring the first batter in each of his nine innings pitched.

The victory ties Ward among the league lead with six, already surpassing his 2014 season total. In addition, the lefty now boasts a 29:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio following the impressive outing.

The complete game is Ward’s sixth in a Panther uniform.

Ward and the Panthers will be back in action Thursday at 2 p.m. as they travel to West Palm Beach, Florida for a neutral site contest with Caldwell.
