BREVARD COUNTY • SUNTREE, FLORIDA — BishopBeale, an Orlando-based commercial real estate firm, held a groundbreaking ceremony for Pineda Landings, a new shopping plaza under construction on Wickham Road.
The 17-acre development, located near the intersection of Wickham Road and Jordan Blass Drive, is the future home of a number of retail stores, including The Fresh Market, a gourmet supermarket chain.
Many local dignitaries, including County Commissioner Jim Barfield and Melbourne Mayor Kathy Meehan, were on hand to celebrate the groundbreaking.
Melbourne-based Certified General Contractors will build the retail plaza.
“The groundbreaking is a signal of the rebounding economy,” said said Adam Broadway, president of Certified General Contractors.
“It’s a huge sign of confidence in the market, and a good thing for this area.
“This is the first time in years that we’ve seen 17 acres of new development in Brevard, with an additional 24 acres of medical development planned in the adjacent lots – for a total of 40 acres of new construction development in Suntree alone,” said Broadway.
Mike Beale, CEO of BishopBeale, added “We are very excited. We’ve dreamed of developing a center for Fresh Market.”
“It’s wonderful to see this dream to fruition, and it’s nice to be part of the growth here in Brevard.”
Eric Hardoon is the site developer for Pineda Landings and for Medical City, the 24-acre project adjacent to the retail plaza.
“This is the beginning of a new transformation of the Suntree area,” said Eric Hardoon, president of ME Siteworks LLC.
“The project is all high-end, with Fresh Market and a lot of nice retailers coming in.
“We’re developing Medical City directly south of Pineda Landings, to include an assisted living facility, Suntree Internal Medicine, and professional condos.”
William Beale of BishopBeale announced at the groundbreaking ceremony that the opening day for the plaza is slated for mid-November.
