West Florida’s Argonaut Invitational
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – With the Sunshine State Conference Tournament looming two weeks away, No. 2 Florida Tech hopes to muster up momentum in a final postseason dress rehearsal at West Florida’s Argonaut Invitational.
The Panthers have been a mainstay at the top of the polls, and following a program-best one-over-par 289 its last time out, have high expectations with postseason play just around the corner.
The 54-hole tourney being held at the par-72 Stonebrook Golf Club will consist of two rounds Monday and one on Tuesday, beginning with 8:15 a.m. shotgun starts.
Junior Felicia Leftinger eyes her third consecutive top-10 finish after placing in a tie for seventh at the Barry Women’s Invitational back on March 17. The Gothenburg, Sweden native is currently fourth in scoring average in all of NCAA Division II.
Florida Tech headlines a field consisting of six top-25 programs, including the 10th-ranked Argonauts and No. 14 Florida Southern.
In addition to Leftinger, Johanna Larsson hopes to add another top-five finish to her resume. The sophomore tied for 19th at the Panthers’ previous event held in Miami Lakes, Florida, but garnered at least fifth in three consecutive tournaments prior.
Three top-five individual finishes carried West Florida to the tournament title in 2014.
Results will be posted to FloridaTechSports.com following the completion of each round.
