A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene after a car struck him on N. Atlantic Avenue in Cocoa Beach about 5 p.m. on Sunday, according to witnesses. 

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA — A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene after a car struck him on N. Atlantic Avenue in Cocoa Beach about 5 a.m. on Saturday, according to witnesses.

The Cocoa Beach police are investigating the incident and interviewing the driver that struck the victim.

Northbound A1A was closed for several hours as police investigated. The lanes have since reopened.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
