Dylan Thomas, 17, Charged As Adult With Attempted First-Degree Premeditated Murder and Aggravated Battery

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – The State Attorney’s Office has filed for Dylan Thomas, 17, to be tried as an adult.

According to the State Attorney’s Office, Thomas is being charged with attempted first-degree premeditated murder and aggravated battery for the attack of Daniel Vukovich, 17, that occurred on Feb. 19 on Glenwood Drive in Satellite Beach.

According to a transfer order signed by a Circuit Court Judge, Thomas was ordered moved from the juvenile facility to the adult Brevard County Jail, and had his first appearance before a judge on Saturday.

Thomas is being held on a $1.1 million bond.

Also arrested in the incident were 18-year-old Jessie Umberger of Satellite Beach, along with 18-year-old Rebecca Gotay of Indialantic.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three suspects responsible for the vicious attack of a Satellite Beach teenager on Thursday morning.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department, arrested were 17-year-old Dylan Thomas and 18-year-old Jessie Umberger of Satellite Beach, along with 18-year-old Rebecca Gotay of Indialantic.

All three were taken into custody this morning after arrest warrants were issued.

All three were charged with Attempted First Degree Premeditated Murder, and are being held without bond.

The investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and Satellite Beach Police Department, which revealed that the attack was in retaliation for the theft of marijuana and smoking paraphernalia that belonged to Thomas and Umberger.

Authorities believe that the victim was responsible for the theft, and the suspects had been planning to kill him for the past several weeks in retaliation.

Based on the investigation, it was determined that on Wednesday night the three met at a residence where Thomas and Umberger were staying.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department, Gotay was to drive her vehicle to the area of the victim’s residence shortly before the victim would leave his residence for school.

Thomas would then exit the vehicle, armed with a crowbar, and kill the victim.

Earlier reports that the victim was shot are erroneous. The victim remains in critical condition.

Attack Victim In Satellite Beach Identified

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Satellite Beach Police Department are investigating the violent attack of Daniel Vukovich, 17, that occurred this morning on Glenwood Drive in Satellite Beach. (See map below)

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department, investigators believe Vukovich was targeted, and the attack was not random in nature.

Based on the preliminary investigation, authorities believe Vukovich was attacked in his driveway shortly after 7 a.m. as he was getting into his car to leave for school.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department, Vukovich was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center where he is undergoing surgery for his injuries, and is currently listed in critical condition.

UPDATE 

School Lockdown Lifted, Police Investigate Shooting

The lockdown of Satellite High School, DeLaura Middle School and Holland Elementary School has been lifted by Brevard County Schools, and an active shooting investigation by police at a residence on Glenwood Avenue continues.

According to police, a man was shot on Thursday morning and taken to the hospital.

Schools Locked Down As Police Investigate Shooting

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – Satellite High School, DeLaura Middle School and Holland Elementary School have been locked down by Brevard County Schools as a result of an active shooting investigation by police at a residence on Glenwood Avenue. (Map below)

Glenwood Avenue and Kale Street have been blocked by authorities, and police are continuing to investigate the incident.
