BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech football team worked out for two hours Thursday afternoon.

The team conducted its first full scrimmage before they left for a week and a half rest, due to spring break.

Coach Englehart was pleased with the team’s effort, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

“I thought it went good. The defense started out good. We basically started it off by coming out from the 20-yard line. The offense went on a three-and-out and then had a turnover and another three -and-out,” said Englehart.

“We worked on some red zone where the offense started to pick it up and scored three out of four touchdowns.”

Englehart said the scrimmage simulated some real in-game situations with playing some “good-on-good” players battling each other in the red zone and third down conversions.

However, the defense did show it has some room for improvement when they have the offense pushed back against their own end zone.

“We cannot let the offense take it from the minus-one yard line and sway field position on us. The goal for the offense usually is to get one first down and get the ball to the twenty so you’re not punting from your end zone. But it was all defense in the two minute drills today,” said Head Coach Steve Englehart.
