BREVARD COUNTY,FLORIDA – WFIT 89.5 FM, Florida Institute of Technology’s radio station and the only National Public Radio affiliate based in Brevard County, will launch its spring fund drive Friday, March 6.

FIT_Seal-580The drive, which ends March 15, will be based at the station’s 6,500-square-foot Broadcast Center on the Florida Tech campus in Melbourne.

The fund drive comes as the station marks its 40th anniversary.

It was in April 1975 that WFIT first began broadcasting as a student-run station in the basement of Roberts Hall.

Now, the station operates out of a state-of-the-art facility that includes a recently opened performance studio.

The station is seeking phone volunteers to assist with the fund drive.
