The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is now offering student internship opportunities to students of Criminal Justice, Public Administration and related fields of study.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is now offering student internship opportunities to students of Criminal Justice, Public Administration and related fields of study.

We are very proud of the relationships we share with Schools and Universities throughout the state who are educating Florida’s future criminal justice professionals.

With a reputation for excellence, the BCSO welcomes those future criminal justice professionals who are interested in gaining a working knowledge and valuable practical experience in their chosen field of study.

The Sheriff’s Office will accommodate work and school schedules so that students can rotate through each facet of our organization.

Most educational institutions offer course credits for successfully completing an internship program, so please contact your academic advisor and the Sheriff’s Office for more information.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has almost 1,500 employees that serve in a variety of functions, from certified Law Enforcement Deputies who patrol our communities and Corrections Deputies who maintain security and professional standards at our County Jail, to a multitude of other positions such as Court Security, Analytical Support, Animal Enforcement, Crime Scene Investigations, Emergency Dispatch, technical and various administrative support positions.

Sheriff’s Office employees also have the opportunity to serve in many specialized units, such as Fugitive Apprehension, K-9, S.W.A.T., Bomb, Agricultural/Marine, Training, Aviation, and Dive.

Certified employment positions (Law Enforcement Deputy or Correctional Deputy) require the following qualifications:

• 19 years of age
• U.S. Citizen
• High school diploma or state
equivalent
• No felony convictions
• Meet physical fitness and
medical standards, including
hearing and visual
• Background investigation
• Other additional agency hiring standards

There are also Sheriff’s Office employment opportunities for candidates who are planning on or currently attending Law Enforcement or Corrections Academies.
