A yet to be identified 55-year old Sebastian man who was a passenger was killed in an auto crash early Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

BREVARD COUNTY • MICCO, FLORIDA – A yet to be identified 55-year old Sebastian man who was a passenger was killed in an auto crash early Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, the driver was traveling northbound on Fleming Grant Road at a high rate of speed, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and crashed off the road into a ditch.

The victim died on scene and Troopers are still waiting to confirm what time the crash happened.

According to FHP, a passerby found the vehicle, a Nissan Maxima, in the ditch at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, but the crash may have been there longer.

The driver, a 38-year old man from Rockledge, has not been identified by authorities. He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Neither man was wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP.

This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
