UPDATE: Sheriff’s Office Investigating Shooting Death

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 500 block of A Lane in unincorporated Cocoa, on Tuesday at about 12:30 a.m., in reference to an emergency 911 call saying that a person had been shot, according to Cpl. Dave Jacobs, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer and Media Relations Liaison.

Upon arrival, Deputies located a male victim who was transported to Wuesthoff Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Jamaal Anderson a resident of Cocoa, and Crime Scene Investigators are currently processing the scene.

According to Cpl. Jacobs, the shooting does not appear to be a random act and agents from the Homicide Unit are in the process of attempting to locate any possible witnesses to the shooting.

An autopsy is currently scheduled to take place today at the Medical Examiner’s Office.
