POLICE: Child Appears To Have Died From Brain Hemorrhage caused By Skull Fracture

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police investigators are seeking an arrest warrant in the death of Baby Zamir, according to Public Information Officer Barbara Matthews.

According to Officer Matthews, upon the State Attorney’s Office approval, the Cocoa Police Department will be charging Nathaniel Aries Dotson, 20, with aggravated child abuse.

Depending on the outcome of the Medical Examiner’s finding, charges will likely be upgraded.

Baby Zamir was kept on life support until his organs were harvested on Thursday night. His body was then turned over to the medical examiner’s office on Friday morning.

Preliminarily, the child appears to have died from brain hemorrhaging caused by a skull fracture, according to Officer Matthews.

Cocoa police officers responded to an apartment at 800 N. Fiske Boulevard on Tuesday at about 1:45 p.m. and discovered an unresponsive 1-year old child.
POLICE: Unfortunately, 15 month old baby boy Zamir is not expected to survive. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

15-Month Old Child Not Expected To Survive

In an update on Thursday morning from the Cocoa Police Department, Public Information Officer Barbara Matthews said: “Unfortunately, 15-month old baby boy Zamir is not expected to survive.”

According to Officer Matthews, the investigation is continuing and charges are pending in the case which occurred on Tuesday when police were called and discovered an unresponsive 1-year old child at an apartment located at 800 N. Fiske Boulevard in Cocoa.

POLICE: Criminal Charges Pending In Injury Incident of 1-Year Old Boy

Preliminary medical findings have determined that the 1-year old child’s injuries were inflicted, not accidental in Tuesday’s incident, according to Cocoa Police Public Information Officer Barbara Matthews.

According to Officer Matthews, criminal charges are pending.

The 1-year old boy remains in critical condition.

Police are interviewing family members and witnesses, and investigators are working on the time-line of when the child’s injuries occurred.

Cocoa Police, Medical Personnel Aid Unresponsive 1-Year Old Child

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa police officers answered a call at an apartment at 800 N. Fiske Boulevard on Tuesday at about 1:45 p.m. and discovered an unresponsive 1-year old child.

According to Cocoa Police Public Information Officer Barbara Matthews, officers arrived on scene and assisted with CPR until medical personnel arrived and transported the child to Wuesthoff hospital.

The child is currently in critical condition. Once the child is stabilized, he will be transported to Nemours Hospital in Orlando.

According to Officer Matthews, the child was home with mother’s boyfriend at the time of the call, and at this time, both the child’s mother and the boyfriend are cooperating with the police.

There is one additional child in the home.
