BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police Officer John Noles grabbed a man by the waist and brought him back to safety at the peak of the Melbourne Causeway.

According to the Melbourne police Facebook page, Officer Noles was dispatched to the peak of the Melbourne Causeway last Sunday at about 9:30 a.m. due to a person trying to jump off the top of the bridge.

Officer Noles arrived on scene and found the man standing on the outside of the railing. He was wearing multiple layers of heavy clothing as well as big work boots.

“Officer Noles approached the man as he shifted his weight and begin to jump in a suicide attempt,” Melbourne police said on Facebook.

“Officer Noles was able to grab the man by the waist and bring him back over the railing to safety. Good job Officer Noles, thank you for your service!”
