OSCEOLA COUNTY, FLORIDA – In a surprise move, the Runaway Country music festival announced that the five-year old major event is moving to Osceola Heritage Park on U.S. Highway 192.

Osceola Heritage Park/SMG General Manager, Robb Larson made the announcement on Monday.

“Runaway Country has grown into a destination event for fans from all over the world,” said Larson.

“We have been looking to bring a popular, established music festival like this to Osceola Heritage Park and are thrilled to have landed this. The venue is perfect for music lovers and artists alike.”

The marquee event has been held at Wickham Park in Melbourne for the last five years. The 2016 Runaway Country weekend is set for Friday, March 18 through Sunday, March 20.

“The new festival site at OHP is just a short drive from our previous location,” said Runaway Country founder Gary McCann.

OSCEOLA-PARK-200“Music fans, vendors and sponsors will enjoy a larger concert bowl, air conditioned restrooms, shaded food courts, new facilities to host the Outer Limits and My Apartment party zones, more campsites, easy access parking and more activities throughout the weekend.

“We are grateful for the hospitality and support provided by Wickham Park staff over the past five years and, of course, the great folks involved with the Space Coast’s tourism industry.  The time has come to showcase country music’s hottest stars in a new venue just 40 minutes west.”

Osceola Heritage Park boasts easy access. Located on Hwy 192, just west of the Turnpike, in Osceola County, approximately 12 miles south of the Orlando International Airport, 45 minutes from the Space Coast’s beaches.

McCann continued, “This opens the door to a larger line-up on an expanded festival site. We have always been big fans of Stage Coach in Palm Springs and successful events like Country Thunder and Country Stampede. With the support offered by Osceola County and larger footprint, we can now introduce new features, attractions and of course, more great entertainment. We are all in for a real treat.”

Runaway Country’s VP Marketing and Sponsorships Doug Baker added, “The amenities for fans are unmatched, including a green, dust-free concert bowl. Sponsors and vendors have told us they love the new facilities. We are looking forward to showing off our new home.”

McCann added, “It was important to keep the festival as close as possible to its roots. A wonderful combination of fans and sponsors built Runaway Country into one of the premier music events in the country. We are grateful for the hospitality and support provided by Wickham Park staff over the past 5 years and of course the great folks involved with the Space Coast’s tourism industry. The time has come to showcase country music’s hottest stars in a new venue just 40 minutes west.”
