BREVARD COUNTY • EAU GALLIE, FLORIDA – Scores of people held a love-in Friday in the Eau Gallie Arts District.

The object of their adoration was Eau Gallie Florist Link Johnsten, who passed away in his sleep Thursday morning.

The manner of this love in? Festooning Highland Avenue with thousands of rose petals.

What a glorious and fitting way for us to pay our respect and love to dear Link, a visionary, a talent, a philanthropist and a cheerleader for his community. He leaves such a void, but we can rejoice in the bounty he shared with us all. It was heartening to see his family there.

A funeral mass will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne. A reception will follow at the Foosaner Art Museum in EGAD.
