OMAHA, NEBRASKA (Omaha.com) – It was the last game against Virginia that had put Florida in this position.

And it was that game — a 1-0 loss to the Cavaliers on Monday — that had stuck with the Gators until they could do something about it Friday.

“You definitely had a bunch of guys out there that were ready to roll,” Florida catcher Mike Rivera said.

The Gators again proved that CWS shutout to be the outlier in their stretch run, ramping up the offense with 11 more hits and two big innings to beat Virginia 10-5 before 19,015 at TD Ameritrade Park.

It created a rematch for Saturday, with the Florida-Virginia winner advancing to the best-of-three CWS championship series that starts Monday night.
